Laguna Loire (2nd Aug 08 at 2:43pm)
Character name: Laguna Loire

Age: 49

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Good/Evil/Neutral: Chaotic Good

Appearance: Laguna stands just a little bellow average hight (five-foot nine, to be exact) with broad shoulders and long legs. But don't let his small size fool ya! This guy is still, after all these years, a trained fighter and can hold his own. He has dark brown, near-black hair dusted with strands of silver that falls to his shoulders and sweeps over along the right side of his face. His eyes are deepset and green, and yes, in fact, are the inspiration for songs. A song. By Julia. Line are sort of etched around his eyes and lips, but those are just laugh lines... mostly.

Now a days, Laguna tries his best to get away with just a loose pair of jeans, flip-flops and a plain shirt whenever he can, sine unifmors are so stuffy and useless. But, hey, when it comes to presidential meetings and important parties? Sort of stuck with a dressy suit thing.

Personality: This man is practically the god of charisma. There are times that that's all that keeps people from strangling him half to death, or from Kiros doing it, one or the other...

He's sort of abscent minded (alright, so he's REALLY abscent minded, but come on!). But that's just because the notepad of his mind gets erased, scribbled on, and then rewriten on. Sometimes it holds thigns for a really long time, and sometimes it doesn't. And it can hold a lot, too! But there are differences between "Laguna brilliance" and "Laguna mindflails". His logic, though, does often make sense on some deeper level. Sort of. He's also got a very serious side when he needs to. But he's funny! People love Laguna, and his natural charism tends to pay off-- like with moombas! Laguna's the hero of moomba kind! Just tends to be pretty clueless, forgetful, and maybe throwing your friends off a liff isn't such a good idea, but it worked...

Laguna Loire likes people and loves life. He's just that kind of guy: a kid that didn't really quite grow up. He's sad, he cries. He's happy, he giggles or laughs. He's angry, he'll yell. He falls hard and falls fast in love or life, but never quite falls apart. He's too much himself, with ideals as vast as the sky and way too enthusiastic about anything he does, because everything he does he puts mind, body, heart and soul into. There's nothing he can't survive through if for no other reason than he's Laguna. A spazz with a big heart. More of a lover than a fighter, but he can get the tough going when the tough needs to get out the door.

History: Laguna was born on January third in Deling City. He was Galbadian, and grew up Galbadian, joined the army as a Galbadian, and fought as a young Galbadian soldier. His childhood wasn't much to note; he was the class clown, fighting boredom and bullies. Generally just your average kid gone off to try to make a difference in the world. But when he joined the army, there was a bit of a problem... he ended up meeting Kiros and Ward there, when a tank (after... well, blowing it up) part crushed his leg, so it was a bit on the fly, with Kiros trying to help him out and Ward covering their butts as they were forced to retreat. So his leg is a little worse for wear because of it. Not a good way to start off as squad leader. But they've never parted since! Or... well... not much anyways. Why? Because Laguna can't navigate, even if you gave him a GPS system and showed him the exit.

Laguna'd fallen in love with a pianist at a bar in Galbadia, Julia Heartilly. Since Laguna never did get the courage up to go talk to her for a long while, she made the first move, talking about his eyes and stuff, which mage Laguna pretty nervous, but that didn't really get anywhere. Orders to move out came and Laguna got so swept up in other things that he didn't exactly get to tell her. Julia ended up marrying someone else and writing her famous song (Eyes on Me). Which is about Laguna's eyes. Mostly.

But life still wasn't going as planned... Laguna, Kiros and Ward ended up cornered by Estharian soldiers after a mission at Centra, which lead to Laguna throwing Kiros and Ward off a cliff to save their lives. Trying to follow them didn't really work out very well, either. He spent a long time in a place called Winhill where Raine Leanohart, the native barkeep (seeing a pattern here?) nursed him back to health. Raine also adopted a little girl named Ellone, and Ellone ended up sort of adopting Laguna, calling him "Uncle Laguna". To which he spent his time being a monster hunter to repay Winhill for all it's kindness towards him. So he sort of had a family to look after and all, and Ellone knew even before Laguna or Raine did how they felt about each other when their relationship sort of flourished.

If you can count Raine banshing him over the head with a frying pan about his accented drawl a relationship...

Kiros finally managed to track Laguna down and gave him news of Ward (who was working in the D-District Prison at the time), and knew all about Laguna's dream of becoming a journalist and suggested that he might want to travel again and write for a magazine called Timber Maniacs, but Laguna didn't want to leave. 'Cause of the fact that he was terribly in love with Raine. Kiros didn't push too hard for him to leave, and eventually Laguna got up the courage to talk to Raine, purposing to her on a hilltop. Everything just seemed to go fine and dandy for a while, because everything was finally falling into place.

But, of course, things just had to go from good to bad when Ellone was kidnapped, so Laguna set off to search all of the world for her. He took up that travel journal at this point, which he'd always wanted to do anyway, always searching for that little girl with Kiros and Ward, makin' cash with odd jobs on the way. (By the way, Laguna can't act. It's painful to watch.) And on the way he inspired villages, almost destroyed others, got captured, and ended up forced to work in the Lunatic Pandora laboratory where made friends with moombas, and found out where Ellone was. In Odine's lab in Esthar! And tha's exactly where Laguna went off in search, and wasn't really sure where the moomba got off to, or that he'd have to fight a war agaisnt a Sorceress. Adel wasn't exactly very nice, and Laguna couldn't say no to leading Esthar's rebellion. So he finally did get around to defeating Adel, rescuing Ellone nad becoming a hero! Even came up with the idea to put Adel in stasis! The only problem? Esthar was way to advanced to continue having contact with the rest of the world, and since he'd landed himself as its leader, was forced to cut Esthar off.

Kiros managed to send Ellone back to Winhill before that, but what Laguna didn;t get to find out until later, when Kiros and Ward came back with news was that Raine had died in childbirth, and that Ellone nad the baby were sent to an orphanage Kiros knew could be trusted. Laguna felt just awful! He was trapped in Esthar with his job, and couldn;t get in contact or even get a single letter out once Esthar was completely closed off.

Seventeen years later, Laguna had no idea that he'd get the chance of a lifetime! Sure, on the Lunar base, he accidentally clung to Sqall's leg, but he'd had no idea that he'd seen his son for the first time. Sure, he'd been informed that SeeD was showing up with Rinoa (who Odine was seriously interested in the power of). Started off as just a routine check on Adel's restraints, and ended up in a Nightmare. Ellone told Laguna all of what Squall was up to so far, and he was really proud! Honest!

But Rinoa ended up possessed and setting off an emergency evacuation (of which Kiros and Ward dragged Laguna too, because he was a little too important to Esthar to get himself involved in saving the world again). Ultimecia is a sorceress from the future controlling ones from the past in order to compress time down so she could control everything in every point in time. She controled Edea to get to Rinoa, who got to Adel, who ended up getting killed, or something, and in the end Laguna just put his foot down and wanted to seal Rinoa away once Edea was free of Ultimecia. But Squall wouldn't have it... Ah, like father, like son, Laguna supposed.

So everyone sat down and came up with a plan. Time Compression would need to happen, aided by Ellone's special power, so that Squall and the other SeeDs could reach Ultimecia, because she was sort of in the future, and she'd go after Rinoa because Rinoa was the next Sorceress, which needed to happen by killing off Adel first (mentioned before), and a lot of confusion that left Laguna with only one option: this was all Squall's fight, so he promised him they'd talk later, because he really needed to tell him about Raine and being his father and stuff. But they still needed to send Squall forward in time so that they can fight the evil sorceress, and somehow time would sort of fall back into place or something.

Sounds real simple, don't it? Yeah, Laguna didn't really get it either.

But, for a while, it was like Rinoa and Squall had simply stopped existing, until later, when there was a huge announcement about the whole mess being over. Laguna still doesn't know the details, and has spent the lst five years slowly integrating Esthar back into the world, and trying, for all his might, to figure out what to tell Squall, becuase he doesn't want him to... well... make Squall upset. So far, it hasn't been so successful, but at least Esthar was becoming part of the world again! And is just sort ofstill hanging onto his birth certificate, the copy that Kiros had managed back to him, as proof. (Bless Kirso, that smart man! Ward, too, because he's... Ward.)

Abilities: Like any trained fighter in the world, Laguna can do a lot. Sort of, when you give him the chance.

Draw: This ability literally draws memories from others, usually just spells, since no one but the Sorceresses can actually cast magic in the world.

Equipping drawn spells: An ability from his world that works in tandem with Draw-- equipping a set level of drawn spells to boost attributes.

Junction: Which means attaching a GF summon to your mind. Not that Laguna has any GFs anymore, since he hasn't needed them, being stuck in Esther and all.

Limit: Laguna's limit break skill is Desperado, which he uses to damage all of his enemies. He first pulls out a hand-grenade and ignites it. Then he shoots a grapple up onto something above him, and as he swings around on his grapple, he fires multiple rounds with his machine gun at the enemies. He then jumps off the rope, landing with his back towards the foes as the grenade explodes, dealing massive damage to all enemies.

Weapon: Usually, a machine gun. And by Hyne, he can aim with it, too! But... no, not anymore. Laguna's getting a bit too old for that.

Hobbies: Triple Triad, stamp collecting, collecting in general, or whatever Kiros hasn't banned from him yet.

Jobs: President of Esther

Summons: None
